Could anyone provide the dimensions of the banjo from an 8" Wadkin RS please.
I've been managing with a cobbled up one for a while but would like to get something a bit better fabricated

I can get them tomorrow, Theres a guy who sells RS parts on gumtree. He might have one but he's expensive

I had a spare for a 6" RS, which I sent to Auscab in Melbourne. It was too short for his RS (can't remember if his is an 8" or a 10" RS).

Cheers, Vann.

I messaged him Wallace and he was going to have a look, just waiting to hear from him. Did you manage to get the sizes yet as making one looks the likely option ?

Hopefully this might help, I have 2 on my RS 10 for a long tool rest, the 2ed one came from an Rs8 and is the same size.
If you need more let me know.

Merlin

Anyone know why it's called a banjo?
The instrument originated with African slaves in the Caribbean and N America, evolved from various African types of instrument made in the same way - skin stretched over a hollow bowl or frame, with a neck and strings. The name might be from African roots (places or materials) or from something in Portuguese. Possibly both since there were many different variations across the region. First recorded as "banza" in the 17th century, and then mentioned as banzas, bandone, bandogue and others before finally settling on banjo some time in the 19th century.

Hi i am in Co. Durham (Barnard Castle) and have three Wadkin RS lathes you are welcome to visit and view the lathes and measure anything you want i have all the Wadkin attachments to go with them and some special ones made by myself i have also drilled an 8mm hole through the headstock and the tailstock to make the removal of the drive centers etc easier. 😀 oooh, I like the sound of this!
Hi Mrs R: Well Barnard Castle is a historic market town including The Bowes Museum with it's world famous Silver Swan and if you are coming via the Yorkshire Dales you could call in England's highest pub Tan Hill and quench your thirst with a glass of lemonade (only joking) also Wednesday's are market day.regards Stan
