Hello!
I was sent over from the Canadian woodworking forum by some folks that said this was a helpful spot.

so I’ve got a Wadkin jointer/planer that I got in Norway and brought to my shop in sweden. The long and short of it is I got it rewired to 220v but the electrician made a little mistake and only did the spindle motor. So after burning out the feed motor I brought it in to get rewired and converted to 220v and now with everything installed the motor is getting very hot to the touch after about 40 minutes of use.

I’m wondering what is the ambient temperature of the motor on these machines? I’m afraid of burning the motor out again because it’s an expensive fix. The motor is so hot i can only touch for about 3 seconds.

I had a machine specialist come take a look and they couldn’t find any mechanical or electrical issues so I’ve pulled the motor and I’m going to bring it back for testing.

Any recommendations welcome!
-Ryan

Probably not very helpful but I had a 3phase BAOS for years, it must have had some kind of thermal cut out in it because sometimes during long planing sessions it would cut out and not restart again for about 20-30 mins until it had cooled down, I presumed that was the reason anyway!
