Hi folks,

Just finishing a rebuild of a Wadkin AGS10 11_14_54.jpg

which i picked up for $200 AUD about 18 months ago.

various parts had to be remade, both the rise fall and canting worms, spindle bearings required replacement, the spindle trunnion rise fall pivot had broken off and needed to be brazed back on, Someone had cut a 2 dirty big holes in the base with a gas axe, and the motor need replacing (5hp 3Ph came with it - I dont have 3Ph as yet. replaced with single phase 2.7Hp ).

I repainted in my workshop machinery colour of black, and made a 3 wheel mobile base with an overcentre locking mount for the swivel wheel.

Still to do is a Fence - the fence rails were on the machine but the fence was not, so a beyesmeier fance will be constructed -got the plans, so thats just time.

and also a riving knife - for which i also have the plans - so also just time...

I am interested in the exact year of this machine, and also if there is a manual that has the correct spindle housing diagram, as this model has the spindle housing cast together with the rise fall trunnion, rather than as a bolt in spindle housing which the manuals i have downloaded describe

the serial number is 10 AGS 601618 - so Im assuming its 1960 or thereabouts.

If any folks have an idea about the manual or if the year is assume is correct, that would be good to know, and happy to share more photos and processes i followed :) cheers

Most of the Wadkin-Bursgreen records went west, when Wadkin closed the Fence Houses plant instead of closing Green Lane (unhappy laid off workers). So, short of a receipt or similar, you'll never know for sure.

But it's believed that those first two digits give the year the machine was built (for Wadkin-Bursgreen machines only, not for Wadkin Green Lane machines).

Can't help with the manual.

Cheers, Vann.

I have machine 10AGS601284, has the same single cast for spindle housing and rise/fall. I have never found a manual that matches this precise model. I have however taken the housing apart and replaced the bearings, images below, not sure if that helps.
