Wondered why the lights werent on come standby, strange thing to change imo. perhaps a small (tiny) nod to reducing power consumption - which is virtually the same if the box is on or standby.
if you are bothered about knowing the state of the box just turn the box to standby before you switch the tv off.

Nothing has changed with mine. It gets turned completely off at night and on again the next evening. Maybe it's yet to happen?

Our Scientific Atlanta V+ box (the one with oval lights either end) was playing up, odd things not working like TV on demand etc. I called them and they sent a technician who just replaced it with a brand new Samsung box. He said the S.A. were old boxes, many of which were failing at the same time.
