Very small planes

So, given that I'm going to be building some very small furniture, what's the panel's opinion on very small planes? Worthwhile, or just a gimmick? These are what I have in mind:

Hmm, I think maybe they're a bit of a gimmick really. Probably better off with a good block plane, cabinet scrapers etc. Amazing what you can achieve with a simple chisel too. I think personally I'd wait until I actually felt the lack of them, and then get 'em. You might want to look at the flat soled finger planes for luthiers too, it occurs to me.

Back to reality, I've taken a look at those planes and they are a bit, well, toylike. I'm sure there is a use for them but, as Alf says, a block plane and scrapers are going to be a lot more use.
