It's about time I had a go at this 'ere veneering lark. Always been a bit of a mystery to me so thought I'd start off by doing some reading.

Got a copy of Veneering Handbook by Ian Hosker but there are still a few things I'd like to know about before I begin (for example edge treatments to make it look like it's solid wood).

Any recommendations?

Thanks

I'd recommend that you laminate the edge to make it look like solid wood, choosing a veneer that complements the main veneer. Or would that solution be too simple?

Actually, when I'm laying my marquetry I always veneer the edge of the piece first so that if the glue join can be seen it will only be visible from the side, not the front.
