anyone know where I could pick up a veneer hammer in the uk? they don't seem very common.

I have a lump of thick brass somewhere that would be ideal to make one, but if reasonable price would rather buy one. also I'll spend 3 hours looking for the brass and another 3 making one. Could do a lot of veneer work in that time!

i would make one. It is only a piece of brass and a couple of offcuts.

I have also seen people suggest that a piece of chopping board works well. I have made the brass version but not the other.

thanks chaps. I had seen that one on ebayRight I'll have a "quick" look for that piece of brass this weekend. If I don't find it I'll order one up.
Many thanks

If you are making one Mick, I would make 2- a wider and a narrow one- mine is about 3 inches which is great for small stuff, but I think a 6" or so one would be useful too on items larger than 12" square.

Turned up a handle out of some ASH last night and I've got a piece in mind for the head too. I've got an old 1/4 thick brass door hinge for the brass strip, so the question becomes... how do I glue the strip into the slot??

The unplugged woodworker suggests using hot hide glue, well that seems fine except its going to be getting warm and would that not breakdown the bond?? I'm thinking this might be a job for epoxy??
