unual stanley no 4 bronze/ brass

This is a rather unusal bronze stanley no 4 that i have spotted on ebay
Does anyone know the history to this type of plane

Hi,

Usually made by a pattern-maker, seen quite a few stanleys made in bronze/brass.
Looks well made and finished, but who knows how well it works?

Unusual, since a patternmaker would normally find it easier (more appropriate skill set) to copy and finish a Spiers style infill.
