This lathe is in college which I’m not use to.
I presume I should be able to take off faceplate, spanner on shaft in picture, would a boa wrench take it off ?
If the college was to get a suitable chuck what would be recommendation?

Put a spanner on the shaft and the face plate should screw off anti clockwise :),I use a Sorby Patriot on mine (y).
If its stuck on good n proper then you might need to give it a tap or two to get it moving.
