Understanding Electric Motors

As Roy and Kityuser have recently been having problems with electric motors thought this may be of help and general interest.

I just had a quick look at it and the DC motor info is OK with more detail on typical maintenance operations than one usually finds on the net but the AC motor info is only 3 phase and then only squirrel cage rotor type of motors. Single phase AC motors are very differenc to these.
