My son is wishing to build an electric ukulele (or something similar), and I am looking for inspiration / ideas / plans for him.

The main design constraint is -SIMPLE-.

Any ideas?

TIA... -gerard-

Hi Gerard

I'd start out with a through neck design, pre slotted fret board with zeroth fret, straight wooden bridge and through body strings aa well as a double rail humbucker for simplicity - note, however that the easy way does involve a tailed router instead of a proper router :)

Alternatively, bending sides isn't that difficult (soldering iron or even curling tongs for a one off,) and using hollow wings would remove the router 'requirement'

Also check out www.mimf.com for further resources - weird posting restrictions, but good for non-supplier-specific info.

I have a spare electric guitar building book which I've emailed you about.

Cheers
Steve
