Just had a power adaptor fail on a LG TV/monitor. It's mostly used for X-box so one of the kids is getting impatient....won't do him any harm to do without but don't want him bringing all his junk into the living room : )
Original rating on the LG adaptor:

I've a box of various power supplies (as we all seem to have these days) and found a Dell with this rating:

Voltages are both 19v but the Dell PSU has a 3.16A output compared to 1.6A from the LG PSU. Polarity is ok but can I assume the higher amperage output is ok? The monitor shouldn't draw more than 1.5A.
Plugs are different but I can swap them.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

+1.

A higher rated PSU is better in the long term. As said, the device will only draw the current it needs. The OEM PSU will only have around 15% reserve power to accommodate any start up surge. They're all supplied to a budget.
