Trimming....push or pull?

Whan trimming the guide rail for the first time, which is best...to push the saw forward or pull the saw back along the rail, thus perhaps giving a 'cleaner' cut!!!?

...or does it matter not?

Hadn't seen this before but to answer your question, you must push the saw forward, pulling it will result in a 'climb cut' and could cause the blade to mount the timber and skim along the surface and then your body.

Thanks guys, I did both...and guess what? Pulling gave what appears to be the cleaner cut...after all, its only a plastic strip!
