Hi all,

Just got a Trend T4EL 110V off of the bay but it will not start properly. It will run for less than a second then die or just plain refuse to start.

I suspect it is the speed controller but would like to hear from anyone with experience of these before I decide if I have to reject it as not as described or ask the seller to refund the cost of the speed controller (about £20)

Thanks in advance.

Possibly the brushes.

Roy.

Thanks Roy,

Pulled them out and they looked OK reassembled and everything works fine RESULT!
are they prone to sticking? is there a recommended lubricant?

The usual reason for sticking in my experience is damp. During useage the brushes wear and produce a fine dust, if this gets damp the brushes will stick. Cleaning normally solves the problem. Carbon dust, dry, is a lubricant.
Just the occasional blow with a compressor is normally all that's needed.

Roy.
