I've had a request from Karl Byrne from the At-Bristol Science Centre for a cross section of a tree to show the rings and to use as an activity for the Easter Holidays. If anyone can help could they email [email protected]. The centre is really impressive, and deserves every bit of help we can offer.

Thanks

Nick

Hi Nick

Is this cross section of 3000 year old bog oak any good....

The interesting thing is not only are the annular rings very high in contrast...you can see from 3 Millennia ago...the summers that were hot and long and the winters that restricted growth for many years....

I marvel at it every time I see it.

Will email it to Karl

Thanks. The prospect of being able to look back in time like that is I'm sure exactly what Karl is after.
