Treating oak

A friend has got hold of an oak church pew in good condition. He wants to use in his garden. Any suggestions as to protective finish.

It could just be left untreated and it will finish itself the same way as old church gates do.

I have been doing some research on oak finishes for outdoors and I'm going to use Flexterior from Rustins.

Click exterior finishes and have a look at "Problems with Exterior Oak" and "Flexterior".

Terry might be along in a bit with another suggestion.
