you need a usb cable to connect the phone to the computer. The computer will see the phone as an external storage drive so you can open your file manager and dray photos across to the intended destination folder. The computer may offer you the chance to do it automatically.
 
Just to add, the usb cable is the same one that you use to charge the battery.

And if it's like the one I had, it will work occasionally.
 
Also to add another option(s) you could use iCloud to move your photos to the cloud and then download to your PC, that way they are also backed up. The same is also true for Dropbox. No cables required and you can set both to sync so every time you take a copy is made on the cloud and downloaded to your PC.

Second that, I use Dropbox and it is all automatic. Take photos on iphone 4s - run Dropbox app - turn on PC - after a couple of minutes a message pops up telling me the photos are ready - simples.
