I have just finished installing the latest model TRA001 Triton Router to my Woodpecker Unilift.
All went well with the installation and the combination works extremely well.
Steps required to install/remove the router bit on the TRA001 that's fitted to a Woodpecker Unilift.
1/. Release the unilft lift height adjustment brake.
2/. Raise the unilift to its full upward height.
3/. Release the router plunge unlock.
4/. Rotate the router micro height adjustment in the upward direction until collet shaft locks fully. (top of collet is about a 1mm below the top surface of the router table).
5/. Install the router bit.
6/. Rotate the router micro adjustment in the downward direction until the locking window on the ON/OFF switch slides open allowing the router power switch to be
turned ON. ( At this point the top of the router collet was measured at 8mm below the top surface of the router table.) That is about the maximum height I was able to achieve with the previous router installed on the unilift.
6/. Retighten the router plunge lock.
7/. Retighten the unilft height adjustment brake before switching the router power switch to the ON position.
The question as to why you would bother bypassing the built in overhead adjustment available on the TRA001 in preference to incorporating the Woodpecker Unilift to complete the similar function.
The heavy duty construction within the Unilift height adjustments are far superior to that being offered on the TRA001, so long term mechanical reliability is an important factor to consider.
The other important benefit is the fine height adjustments that can be achieved with the Unilift in comparison to the coarser thread set up on the TRA001. An ability to dial in very fine incremental changes to the router bits height to the router table's top surface is an important attribute to have available when accuracy of measurement is a high requirement within your woodwork projects.
Note: Built in interlocks on the new model TRA001 should prevent the router from ever starting up during router bit installation . To be totally safe, always insure the power supply has been disconnected from the router.
Remove the TRA001 plunge spring for under router table use as per the manufacturers instructions.
I have no affiliation or financial interest in promoting Triton or Woodpecker merchandise.
regards; Stewie.
