What is the best top for a router table? I have an outside, unheated shed as my workshop.

I fancy MDF as the aluminium one I have now marks the wood and the grooves mean that smaller pieces can rock about. However, MDF is prone to the damp.

If you are making your own top you can use

MRMDF ( Moisture resistant )

So is it only me who marks the wood on my aluminium top? Maybe I press down too hard!

could you put something like a film onto the aluminium to stop it marking?
