 : Local stockists no have.

My back went pop at about 10am, only bent over .............. hobbling around like an octogenarian.

Found £20 in a pair of shorts last night, first time on this year.

Shorts seem very snug.

Definitely a smell that lingers, been there done that.

The Worcester Bosch engineers fit new flexi pipes with a date tag now and change them every three (I think) years whether they need it or not.

Sure does! all the windows and doors are wide open on this lovely sunny day we're having. And yes, new hose came with a label - not to exceed five years from manufacture date.

What is this nonsense of people leaving/finding money in pockets. Do you peasants not use a wallet? .. honestly. Some people.

You should try living here. Virtually all the "men" go round with their loose change in little, what I call anyway, "ladies purses" (English purses, NOT American ones)! My wife, who is a proper Swiss, not a pretend one like me, is always moaning at me 'cos she says having change loose in your trouser pockets makes holes (and it does, but only SOMETIMES). But I always "felt" that purses for men was more than a little bit only for those gents "playing for the other team" so have steadfastly refused a purse, even though she's bought me several over the years.

But bank notes? Always in a wallet for me.

And very good health to the above poster with a back problem. NOT a joke, NOT ever. "Gute Besserung" mate.

We call them a "murse" (man purse). These are very popular in Italy as well.

I call mine my gay bag. It was forced into use ages ago when I got tired of my wife losing my stuff in her cavernous hand bag, full of make up, tissues and god knows what else.

I've carried a manbag since before the term was invented. I bought my first one in India, late 80s. Wouldn't be without it. The only downside is that if I lose it I lose everything. It's happened twice :(

I don't understand the perceived link between carrying a handbag and being gay. The gay men I know don't carry a bag and the blokes I know who do, not many of them, in both cases, I admit, are straight. I don't get it.

I must admit that I don't get it either Steve. It's just an in-grained "Ugh, No!" with me, don't know why, or where from.

And I haven't got anything against our friends from the other team either, honest (unless they try to recruit me) which so far, has only happened twice (and never ever saw it in the RAF or children's homes either BTW).

Strange reaction really, I do admit. But nevertheless it's still a big NO for me, illogical or not (and I'm not alone either, to judge from some responses above).

Rucksack, briefcase, laptop bag, fishing bag etc seem to be completely acceptable but anything remotely resembling a handbag seems to be a no no.
My "man bag" is a Barbour (i.e rufty tuffty outdoors ish) so I avoid most of the flak from the lads. Really useful given all the stuff I now seem to need which I never did as a youngster.

I think a majority of us on this forum come from an age where there just wasn't as much to carry around. No mobile, no MP3 player, no tablet, no hun'erds of loyalty and credit cards, etc etc. I'm 61 and counting; when I compare what I had in my pockets as a young twenty-something versus what my mid-twenties children carry, it becomes clear THEY need more room for more gear.

I had loose change in a trouser pocket, because most of what I wanted to buy could be bought with it. Lunch ("dinner" in those days) was out of my 'piece box' - usually in a over-shoulder duffel bag, and my flask lived in there too. When I wasn't going to work, all I needed was said loose change, a handkie and maybe, just maybe, if I was on a train say, a note folded up in a secure back pocket. I didn't smoke, but my mates who did, carried roll-ups or *** packets in their coat pockets - which could include denim jackets (who sees them these days?).

SammyQ: " ... could include denim jackets (who sees them these days?)."

I HAD one of those, and funnily enough I was looking for it just the other day. Turns out SWMBO threw it out (without telling me of course)! And she mumbled something about being YEARS out of fashion too.

Who knew that? Who cared, even if they did know?

Nice, comfortable garment, may not look "cool" these days, but ideal for weather when you don't need a heavy jacket but a bit too breezy to go without.

But yeah, right on, the stuff that people lug around today!

I cannot remember what I took to school, it was so long ago :) but at University I used a briefcase and wore a corduroy jacket (back in the 60's).
Again for work I used a brief case and my car except when commuting to London when I used a small rucksack to keep hands free for clinging onto supports etc.
Now retired I have to carry a small man bag for medical reasons.

I find it helpful to be disarming and self deprecating. I like my gay bag and don't give a toss if people associate it with whatever they like. My wife thinks I am gay anyway - I have a very clean and tidy workshop!
