As opposed to the items/tools that we buy, how about a little topic on the things we have been given or found? I'm a right git for dumpster diving at times.

Today (actually yesterday as I've only just thought of this  ) I obtained an air hose reel.

Pretty Similar to this, minus the hose. One of the self recoiling ones. Looks brand new.

Not sure if I'll use it for air hose or, with some adaption, an extraction hose.

My air hose is always getting tripped over so I think one of those reels screwed high up to an overhead beam would be a good idea.

Another job on the list! :)

Nice find!

They're very good, I picked one up from Aldi on promo a few weeks ago for £19.99, the only drawback is, as you pull it out, it tends to coil as it goes, bit of a PITA as it then tends to snag itself on every available large object in it's path. Still, better than trailing air hose and tripping up over it constantly, and tidying up is a 2 second job to get it to recoil.

Today I acquired ... 1/2 a dozen pallets (one of them 8x4 two sided) from the house extension going on 3 doors down, been meaning to 'acquire' some for a behind-the-workshop-garden-tool-storage type shed/lean to/whatever for awhile, all good and relatively clean timber. Unless anyone has any better ideas for a reclaimed timber project?

Here's some stuff I was recently given - as payment in kind.

There's a variety: brass locks, hinges, handles, knobs, escutcheons; pearl glue; silver name plates; bone; keys - blank and ornate; wood screw thread cutters; hatchet; draw knife and heaven knows what else!

BTW, I'm told that the funny looking metal tool to the left of the hatchet handle is for dismantling/reassembly of four poster beds :)

Nice haul, I like the hatchet/drawknife and screw boxes.

We have hose reels like that where I work in my day job. They have petrol pump type nozzles on the end and they are plumbed into the coolant distribution system that we use for topping up the cnc machine cutting/coolant fluid tanks.

Today, so far, a glass fire surround from a modern fire. Two small and two large rectangles of glass bonded to a metal backing. No longer bonded to the metal as they are going to be used for sharpenning chisels/planes etc.
