Just seen this Titan mitre saw on the Screwfix site, down from £90 to £55.

http://www.screwfix.com/prods/98832?ts=33207#

Reading the instruction manual on the page there, it says that it is only suitable for cutting MDF board.

I will be using pine a lot, and mdf, but surely a mitre saw would be handle other types of wood?

How would this be for a starter mitre saw? I was advised that the cheapy ones at around £20 would be pretty rubbish, so i thought this might be a better option? It's just the "MDF only" thing that bothers me

Hi Calv,

It actually says "Only wood or products such as medium density fibre board can be cut with this saw. Other materials may shatter or cause the blade to grab."

It will be fine for any wood.
