Veritas will soon be offering it's much anticipated PM-V11 steel. Supposed to have wear characteristics the same or better than A2, but the sharpening speed and edge durability characteristics of O1. I am looking forward to playing with these and seeing if it all holds true.

Try it and see.

We can do any amount of theoretical research, laboratory development and testing, but in the end, the only way we'll find out if something is any good in normal working conditions is to use it under those conditions. Maybe it will turn out to have attributes that, on balance, make it a better bet than some other steels for some jobs. Maybe the disadvantages will outweigh the advantages. Until it's tried....

I'm getting hold of a blade for a little play, but the steel does appear rather impressive, specially if you have a delve on the website - Rob

They had the "normal" new Veritas chisels at Axminster Nuneaton this week and they look nice.
