Hi I have a 3 phase lathe which I run from a converter ?
There are two buttons which push in and also a knob to turn it to start it in slow or fast speed.
I accidentally pushed the power button in while the knob was turned on and now it won't start and the power button won't stay pushed in?
Help :?

Hi Myfordman, I was hoping you would reply
It's an MVM manual copy lathe and can rotate in both direction depending which way you turn the red knob, which also has two speed settings on it.
I have removed the front cover on the start box which has a black button which when pushed stays in and then you turn the red button to speed 1 or 2 to to start it spinning
The red button makes the black power button pop out
I inadvertently pushed the black button in whilst the red knob was "in gear" and nothing happened but the black button pushes in and pops straight back out now rather than staying in and the machine is lifeless.
Hope this makes sense

Max,

I think you need to check all the protective devices in use.
Fuses and the thermal overload at least plus anything else. I suspect one of these will have failed.
Unusually, the contactor is marked at 48v.
Somewhere inside the box will be a transformer converting the incoming voltage to 48v and quite possibly will have its own fuse. Check this. If all is well, you should see 48v across the contacts behind the red button.

If that does not solve it lets have a clear photo of the inside of the box.
