hi martin

just a quick guess, it look like the little lion that use to be on egg shells yrs ago seems to remind me of a stamp possibly for stamping hand made butter blocks back in those days, or something along those lines. no OK i know coat , hat door. hc

hi

 typo error , the only goat i got is the mum in law     , you can have her free of charge , (not for sale item)oops better not let the wife see that, duck door exit quickly .

now back on thread any chance of getting the mark clean out so we might be able to read it , might give us a better idea, was it Alf who posted a few pages here on trade marks a while ago.

the only other things is the shape of the blade , hm maybe for cleaning a horses/animal hoof out, part of a vets tool kit :?: hc

It looks like an oyster knife to me, i always take one with me going to France, mine hasn't got quite such a long handle though.

The blade looks fare too chunky to be a usable oyster knife. Unless the pics are deceiving? Do you have any idea whether it's defiantly a woodworking implement?

It would make an exceedingly good marking knife and would give a sort of 'rolling-cut'. I don't like oysters, so I'd use it as a marking knife!

Regards

John

Ughhhh.. Tom!

To be honest, I really can't pluck up courage to even try them. One look and they remind me instantly of the substance you mentioned. Only two places for that and neither is in my stomach!

One man's meat etc.. I guess.

Hi All,
Not an oyster knife, oyster would have to be 18" across
Blade is about 3.5" long and 2.75" across.
Pretty satisfied that it is Peugeot Freres but they did Wood, Leather and Kitchen Tools also. Anyone know of a catalogue?
Handle is about 9" long with brass rivets that have steel cores. Very well made thing; not sure wheter the tip has broken off or snould have that little flat.
Cheers,
Martin
