they aren't slipper they are called Tabi boots, I have a pair and are very comfortable.

This video is well worth watching, it is in several pieces so be sure to watch them all, just wish I could understand what he is saying.

Baldhead

I have just spent an hour watching these enthralled! I cant believe all this is achieved working on the floor and not a power tool insight! I can't imagine how much these articles would cost

Truly amazing. I'm ashamed to say I'd struggle to produce anything as nice as that stuff, even with a workshop full of tools. At least I'd have a lot of odd off-cuts from the first 10 attempts :)

I think it's the climate, we need to produce more shavings and samples for the wood burner than they do in Japan. Our power tools help us to complete the task of staying warm far more efficiently. My wood pile grows expedientially with the number of new projects I attempt, fail, attempt, fail. As the proverb goes, if at first you don't succeed, burn, swear and start again.

It's impressive stuff but I have my doubts that anyone can survive this way in the modern world. Maybe a hobby for him or maybe a museum village type of affair ? I don't think the cost of living in Japan is low enough for this to be real.

But I sort of wish it was.
