Wasting a little time on an extended coffee break.....looking on u tube....
so getting close to sourcing materials for the above and looking for better ideas....
came across this one.....also looked at the Stumpy Nubs one....
as well as the thicknessing side of the job I also want a slighty exposed drum/sanding on the top for just cleaning rough wood used in like pallets......


then thinking about how many circles to cut x 3 for diff grades of sanding belt.......

any better ideas out there....ta........
 
As I'm sure you know, the standard olive picking machine seems designed to be cannibalised for drum sander parts. In the unlikely chance that you haven't noticed (and for anyone who has not seen an example), here is one in action:

Also, i have in mind to have a go at one of these: not a thickness sander, but much easier, and therefor more likely to happen.
