I am both a skinflint and bankruptcy candidate so stuff I use at home is salvaged/leftovers.

At work for standard office conversions we use a product called megaply (thin ply with vinylish face) - this looks to be made in the far east and I must say they dont seem to be bothered about what wood goes into the ply. Every now and then I see some amazing looking sheets, couple of weeks ago one sheet had some sort of rippled/quilted maple on the back. Few years ago I put 3 sheets aside that were so pretty I couldnt bear to use them, as I have learnt a bit since I know now that it was burr oak (or something very similar) - these are 8x4 sheets and the burr was continous over most of each sheet. Was gutted when we ran low on materials and had to use them for a rush job.

I have loads of large planks of exotic hardwood such as teak and afromosia to sell (up to 125mm thick, 400mm wide and 2m long). All were inherited from my father so, if you're prepared to accept that this was felled at least 50 years ago before we knew what we do about human climate change, then contact me. Otherwise it goes to waste rather than being converted into decent furniture etc. which also doesn't help climate change.
