Not one you would expect. You may have noticed I haven't turned anything for a while. It is because one of our hens has taken up residence under the end of the lathe in amongst the wood shavings I have left lying there. Friday she hatched 5 little chicks, and now sometimes she vacates the shed and wanders off into the fields with her little ones teaching them what to eat and what to avoid. This means I can now snatch a few moments before she returns to reclaim her abode.

Today I was able to turn a knob/handle for one of the greenhouse window openers. When cut in the winter is was difficult to turn but now having dried a bit it turned beautifully. Anyone wanting to practise a bit of spindle turning could do a lot worse than by using dry willow. even the grain looked better than I expected. although it is purely a functional thing.

Either a lawn mower or trainee Sunday lunch even maybe trainee breakfast egg producers. At least you have found a use for the shavings

The eggs are about equal to three chicken eggs. Ok for omelettes etc. but just too big for a boiled eggs.

No such thing as to big, just use a pint mug as an eggcup :)
