Well I've been clearing old logs, new logs, old burrs, new bits of Laburnum, ash, yew, apple, oak, plum, chestnut, conker, hazel, blackthorn, holly, willow......you name it I've sawn it, circled it, sliced it and end sealed it. I started last week and its taken me best part of 4 days on and off to process much of the accumulated wood at its various stages into storable blanks. I know how you boys n gals like piccys so feast yer eyes on this lot. I reckon I've got about 1 days worth of stuff left to process then I guess I'll have to build a dirty great shelf to store it all cos I've run out of space elsewhere (with blanks of course).

All English spp that I've collected myself or people have popped round after a cherry tree came down in their garden etc. Its amazing what turns up when you're known in your village as the bloke that wants wood!

When you have finished you can come down here and sort mine out

Looks like you have some nice blanks there,

I know I need to prepare three 7' holly logs I have standing in my wood store looks like I better get out and sort them you are making me feel guilty that I have not yet done them

You've been busy Rob !

Inspired me to get back out into the workshop after a quiet spell I think :)

Cheers, Paul

I was the same Paul......long squawk with the family at Xmas (22 for xmas lunch!!!) and I was basically knackered in Jan. I didn't even enter our turning clubs Jan competition which is a very poor show! The only thing I had turned was the earing stand for this forums Jan contest. Then phone call comes in from my Laburnum spotter and that catalysed me into a monster log clean up session which in turn kept being interrupted with bursts on the lathe. I find when I cut through a log and see the fresh grain....its just....red rag to a bull :) Like another poster said its best to process logs when they first arrive if nothing else to avoid too much splitting but I've never been that hot on that. I'm ashamed to say that some of these blanks have come from logs over a year old
