The ones you get the vouchers for. Anyone used them yet? I wouldn't expect them to be up to Henkels, Wusthofs, or even Globals but they look OK. Most of the promotional stuff Tesco has done has been very good.

The Kitchen Devil "control" range is so cheap in Morrisons, and looks rather handy,
that if I were looking to buy a knife, I'd probably just get those.

I usually use the self serve checkout but the other day had to use trolley one. The lady asked if I collected the stamps and then filled a new card with 15 stickers. Either she was a very nice lady who wanted me to make the most of the deal, or they've been told to try and shift the tat :|

We got a couple of knives last year. We don't have any complaints but upon reflection we spent way too much in store as you can get them on eBay in a few weeks at half price.

That's marketing for you and it obviously works

Quite some time ago I got 3 Sabatiers from Lee Valley. As I got them in store , I was nearly put off them by the cheap and ugly plastic handle on the one carving knife . The story went thus. They had been found in an old French warehouse unhandled and were handled up for sale some 80 yrs. after initial manufacture. I'm rather glad I got them , after some small mods and polishing of the plastic to suit my hand it has been a mainstay in our kitchen. Not paid much more than 25 dollars for the 3 and just beautiful steel holding a lovely edge. My wife even steals the 2 paring knives for work as a fine dining chef. When I want to use them I need to open her Global Knife briefcase. They live there now you see.

I went to a boot sale and picked up a couple of knives, one ten inch one six, that were bound together with gaffer tape. They didn't look at all bad, so I asked how much. A quid he said 'coz they're good ones, so I said I'd take a chance. They were almost untouched from new, and as the sunshine caught them I saw the etching on the sides of both "hand forged by Sabatier for Elizabeth David Ltd" :)

Should be perfectly usable, but IIRC that was an Eighties branding excercise, long after Ms David's demise.
