Hi folks, hope you are well :)

I won this saw on evilbay, listed as a tenon but seems to be more like a dovetail saw - very fine teeth and quite a dinky little thing. What do you think tenon or dovetail??

Cheers

Pax dovetail saw. I have one from the same stable. Decent saw, poor handle.

Evening all, saw has approx 19-20 tpi. In my ignorance I wouldnt know how to tell a rip from a crosscut on such a saw

Yes the handle is rubbish, its broken! repaired with a screw by a former owner. A better repair or even a new handle will be on the cards one day - I have a growing pile of second hand hand tools that I've been collecting for my toolbox, when life slows down a bit I'm looking forward to working on them and with them :)

Out of interest, can teeth this small be sharpened?

Thanks!

Certainly, my first rehandled + resharpened saw had (and has) 20 tpi.
A needlefile helps, but it can be done with a 4" taper xx slim.
Made a 4" 24 tpi yesterday, that is hard to set. But filing is not that hard.

Cheers

Thanks for the info folks!

Glad this can be resharpened (by somebody else, not me :) ), will be a keeper for the toolbox. Only a big rip saw to find for the 'traditional' end of my saws, got my eye on one but funds are limited  watch this space :D
