I have a Delta Unisaw and out feed tables etc, but this does take up a fair amount of space in the workshop so I have been toying with the idea of making a decent vertical sliding panel saw.

I am trying to think of most of the pro's and cons of this decision, now for my question what more can the tablesaw do that the panel saw can't, I'm not completely sold on the idea so any comments would be really appreciated.

Rip solid wood, for one, especially heavier sections.

Good quality vertical panel saws, for the most part, are reasonably well suited for that purpose, i.e, cutting up sheet goods. Low quality vertical panel saws I've found aren't even very good at that. Slainte.
