Axy 10" saw. Fires up and motor is running but very slow to get up and running.

Is it just a change of belt needed?

I thought I tightened it quite well but it doesn't seem to be enough. Its not done that much work so a bit surprised if a new belt needed already.

Being a small 10" machine I'm assuming it's single phase. If this is the case a a over tightened belt will make struggle to start due to the low torque from the motor. Having said that I would remove the belt completely and ensure everything is free running I.e the spindle I would then start it with out the belt fitted with out the belt fitted the motor should reach full speed quickly. If you feel it's slow to run up then you may need to get a little more technical and do a few electrical tests such as the capacitor and a motor insulation test
