Hi all you boxmakers out there. I'm looking for some help, please.

I'm planning on making a jewelry box out of plywood covered covered in a burr veneer.

I've found a website which sells the veneers in the right sort of quantities -
iamb considering the super value burr offcut pack for GBP 25. http://www.originalmarquetry.co.uk/veneers.asp -

Has anybody had any experience with these guys? Service/quality/price? Any other suggestions?

The bigger problem at the moment is that I'm trying to find a supplier of some nice hardware
- hinges and catches.
So far I've only found a small collection on originalmarquetry.co.uk, but they are limited in selection
and really cheap, so I question the quality.

http://www.uktoolshop.com/catalogue/brusso/brusso.htm do sell the Brusso range,
but they seem to be quite expensive - perhaps the rolls-royce of small hinges?

Can anybody suggest a good source of hardware (brass/silver/stainless steel)
for this type of project - which is in the middle in terms of quality/price?

Many thanks in advance!

Paul

Hi Paul

For your hinges & fittings you could always try Martin's. They're not that cheap but there's a load to choose from and it's good quality stuff.

Thanks guys for the advice - some good links there I've saved.

For now I've ordered the burl veneer pack from http://www.originalmarquetry.co.uk/ & threw in a few hinges/catches to see how they are. If they are not of sufficient quality for this project, I'll order from one of the other sites.

Cheers

Paul
