Dear turners,
following your advice on chucks for the M950 - the Supernova was the overwhelmingly endorsed model so is the one I'm getting (thanks for that).
Ive been checking different websites ref costs etc and some will throw in a 45mm spigot (Sharks Jaws) in with the cost of the chuck. Do these do the same job as the 50mm jaws which come as standard?...if so, would I be better getting the 35mm spigot...? or am I missing something.
You can tell Im new to all of this!.
thanks again in anticipation of your help.
MMD.

They are used for holding long unsupported pieces and so do a different job to the standard 50mm jaws. I rarely use mine and use the standards all the time. It depends on what you intend to turn.

Have a look at the manual which can be found here.

Hi Devonwoody,

The deal at the time i got mine was a set of 45mm jaws some 50mm jaws and a woodscrew, i've not used the 50mm jaws at all, they're still cable tied together in the box. I don't know if the woodscrew is standard but make sure you get one, they're very useful
