I'm renewing my Elektra Beckam saw and have been offered good deals on a Stromab S80 and a Scheppach TS2500. I have lots of info on the Scheppach but only basics on the Stromab, any comments on either would be gratefully received

I havn't even hear of the Stomab ??

I know scheppach is a well known make - Charley the webmaster has the TS2000 and is well pleased with it. Read about it under the reviews section.

I'm sure the TS2500 is even better and it certainly looks a solid machine with many features....

Thanks for the reply
Stromab are an Italian company that specialise in big stuff in fact I think the S80 is about the cheapest machine they make, from what I can tell it looks pretty similar to the Scheppach but with a slightly smaller motor. I think first choice will be the ts2500 unless anyone can give reasons to go for the other.
If anyone is interested the Stromab can be found here

thanks again :)

Hi sadams

I believe the Stromab is also marketed in the UK by Axminster, 'rebranded' under their own label as the S80

It's not had good reviews for accuracy, ease of setup and so on

Judging by widespread user opinion, both here and in groups.msn.com/ukwoodworking, the Scheppach appears to be the better bet

Good luck with the decision, and don't forget to come back and gloat!

Thanks for your reply eeyore. I think I will be going for the scheppach it seems to be the better deal, and rest assured I would love to come back and gloat
best wishes :D

Sadams, did you get the Scheppach machine and are you happy with it. I am looking at possibly getting the TS2000 as everyone seems to have only good things to say about it. It would be nice to hear your impression of your buy.

Hi CYC

I agree that the Scheppach is an excellent machine but you should also have a look at the Kity.

The Kity had a couple of weaknesses, I can't remember exactly what they were, but they have now been corrected. With the Kity being slightly cheaper you can also look at the sliding table.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Neil

(Who will be doing his own comparison at Stoneleigh)

I went to the shop in Dublin to have a look at what's on offer since the last time I started looking. They are now selling the Elektra Beckum PK255 V8 (all accessories) for a better price. It's a LOT more than the Scheppach TS2000, and way over my original budget, but taking in consideration all there is on this table it's seems cheaper compare to the scheppach ( I hope I make sense here).

I am really thinking about getting it  . The main reason is that it would be a great deal of money today, but at least it's a table I am sure I will not regret having bought for a very long time.

Anyone using this table, can you let me know your impressions?
