hi all

I have a 60's balance for restoration. It has a plywood cabinet with curved sides and cutouts etc, which is painted. The paint is badly crazed on the edges and curved parts, but mostly well adhering to the flat bits. I have scraped off what comes off in flakes, but the rest is well stuck. It's now fully dismantled but the whole thing looks like this:

Options:
1. rub down, feather the edges back and re-spray - could be a bit uneven?
2. paint stripper - but I'm concerned about warping or de-laminating the ply, which in places is quite thin
3. hot air gun?

suggestions and experiences gratefully received!

thanks
Gavin

If you are consideting respray, use high build primer and sand it back to smooth. If you dont know what the original paint type is, you might want to apply a sealer coat.

Or..... get scraping, probably a lot better than sanding
