I popped in the tip earlier and spotted this thing with lots of knobs and thought it might come in useful for parts- it was only 2 quid ;)

I can't figure out its original purpose though. I've googled book press and flower press but can't think of anything else to search :?
Any ideas what it might be ? The bottom aluminium moves left and right and forward and back then gets pinched in place by the clampy knobs. The top pivoty bit has a huge heavy lump of round bar that must do something .... it seems well made so im a bit hesitant to hack it to pieces incase it'll serve a better purpose.

Thanks

Coley

Interesting that you can buy from your tip - is that officially or on the side?

Brian
Ah thanks for that ;) it does look very similar. It was officially. He tried selling me a lawn mower for a fiver- despite being completely rusted out started first time and started hitting the tarmac
Cheers

We can buy from our 'tip' although its proper name is 'Recycling Centre'. It is quite a large area outdoors and some more inside with its own car park. Nothing seems to be priced, you just ask 'how much?' and then haggle if its more than 30p

Looks like everythings there so im tempted to try some screen printing :) the tip I bought the press from is quite small- not much storage space. The guy said he has to price stuff low to keep it shifting to make room for more- makes sense I suppose. The majority of stuff is always 3 quid so I usually pop in just to see what stuffs about. I like the thought of reusing bits other people have thrown out. If I could be bothered with ebay im sure there's good money to be made. I've bought several things with the intention of cutting up using for parts only to find its worth money just left as is. Then comes the dilemma of what to do with it - for example
