Two pieces straight out of the workshop within the last hour.
Both of these are really just experiments
The little pot with the slots running up and down was finished with copper paint which did dry very shiny but when I put a finish on it went matt in colour as the finish was a satin finish. The outside I used the pyrography machine to apply the texture and then ebonising spray followed by a misting of Golden acrylic interference paint in blue.
The second piece with the ripples was from a tutorial of ripple surface effect by Dennis Gooding on another site his was a random ripple and he got a 50% success rate so I was pretty pleased to have managed to complete this on my first but then I did cheat to get mine to ripple and in a more uniform way

Glad you've got to the end of the projects with a 'Result', lots of time and effort on such methods trials deserves a finished item to show for your labours.

The ripple piece is novel, the multi surface colour and texturing of the pierced tumbler/vase certainly shouts about the challenge of keeping the finishing edges clearly defined.

Thank you Chas. I spent the rest of the day messing about by cleaning up a couple of blanks so I could see the grain better for rough turning. Then went on to start the bowl section of another piece I have been playing with designs for, but the first piece produced a vase like shape but it had grain that I did not feel right about covering in paint. The second was apiece of wet Oak again when rough turned I liked what I saw. I must have a plain piece of wood somewhere in my little pile.

Photo's of the two pieces I am going to rough turn look what I found and the last is the vase shape I don't want to paint
