Hi everyone,

I was thinking of making a simple linen storage / blanket box, that'll look something like in the attachment - with the spaces, but w/o the castors...

The wood I was thinking of is PAR/PSE joinery softwood timber (approx 20mm thick & 150mm wide, or whatever's available cheaply), but willing to consider anything else that'll save me money & won't look terrible. May treat/paint it, but that's not important now.

Because of the space I have for it, the dimensions are unusual & approx: 135(L) x35-40(D) x100(H)cm
Otherwise, I might've just bought a readymade box or 2!

I need the wood delivered to S Oxfordshire, so cannot pickup.
What is likely to be the best wood I can get for it, & for the cheapest price delivered please?

this is the kind of thing where you might get away with pallet wood, especially if it's going to be painted, I would look at getting good quality redwood pine, or poplar if it's a hardwood can both be found very cheap, I haven't bought wood since before the lockdown though, I am hoping prices haven't gone up.

Those measurements......
are you sure you want a box 3 ft deep but only a foot front to back? Just how long are your arms?
I suggest 2 stacking boxes of 18" deep would be more realistic

I think Sunnybob is right, the box you are thinking of is too deep, you could make. the bottom part of the box with a drop front or even a pair of side opening doors, I would also try to use a timber like poplar or tulipwood as it's sometimes called .As for availability it's a matter of calling around the timber yards in your area .
