Hi I ldoes anyone know any good timber merchants around the area ive been to several well known ones but to be honest they are useless, dont mind travelling a reasonable distance if they have a good selection of exotics, want mainly some chunks for turning and was also thinking of a few varieties to make a multi coloured chopping board. Any ideas welcome? Thanks folks.

Just because the suppliers in Stoke on Trent don't stock an inexhaustible supply of exotic hardwoods does not make them useless. Hymoor for instance provide a decent Comercial service on wood that the average business in Stoke on Trent might need but you cannot blame them for not stocking every timber under the sun on the hope that one day you might walk through the door. If there were sufficient demand in Stoke on Trent for exotic hardwood then they would supply. In the mean time there are several internet suppliers who will meet your requirement for the exotic. You have to bare in mind that one of the factors that has lead to the demise of several suppliers is too much stock and therefore cash tied up in a difficult market.

I'm very sorry about the title to this subject, it was phrased in this way to attract attention to the subject matter and I apoligise if i have offended and did not intend to open political debate.

Thanks guys for quick useful replys, going to have a look in nantwich see what they have!
