Hi, I'm a newbie. I've had the saw for a bit but haven't used it much. The blade is pulling to one side really badly, I've taken the guides off (since reading a post on here looks like they need refacing) but even without them one and using a very thin piece of wood the blade is pulling hard. Any idea please? The blade seems to be tracking centrally on the wheels. It's 3/8" blade from Axminster - almost new. Thanks

Is the blade sharp?
Is it correctly tensioned? These first two are frequent issues.
Are the blade guides to both sides and back correctly set?
Is your fence square?
Have you got too much depth of blade exposed?
Are the wheels running true (hand turn with power off)?
Are you trying to push the material through too fast?
Do you have the correct number of teeth on the blade for the thickness of material?

All of these make a difference. it is most largely set up coupled with experience. Blunt blades wander about, as do badly tensioned blades.

Swap the blade, sounds like you have lost the kerf on one side.
You can do a bearing conversion for peanuts I did a thread about it.

Pete

Oops set not kerf

What Pete said but even without converting the bearings it will cut straight if with a sharp blade correctly set up, have you been cutting tight curves with it? The Startrite 352 is very simple and as tough as old boots.

I get the blades for my 352 from Tuffsaws.
