Startrite 352 Bandsaw - Needs some TLC

I'm after some advice how a Startrite 352 bandsaw I got recently. The paintwork is a bit scruffy and could do with a refresh, it's the green hammered finish. Searching through past posts I can't seem to find anyone that's found the equivalent paint from somebody like Hammerite or Rustoleum - is there one?

Also if I were to try and repaint the bandsaw would I get a reasonable finish painting it by hand (even if I thinned it) or does it need to be sprayed to get a decent finish. Spraying would be a problem as I don't have the right equipment and from what I can see it can make a mess of a spray gun. The colours available in the aerosol range don't seem to match the current colour I'm after.

Finally I could do with a copy of the manual - anyone know where I get one from.

Congratulations on your purchase. They are great machines, get yourself some blades for Ian at Tuffsaws and start cutting some wood!!! Worry about the paint only when you have sliced enough veneers to last a lifetime. Seriously there are alot of people with this bandsaw on the site so any issues just ask.

I too have scruffy paint and I will get around to sorting it out one day but there is so much wood and so little time,

It's a great machine and I'm sure you'll be happy with it. As for painting it - I haven't worried about my machine which is a bit scruffy, but I did experiment a bit with an old Tormek sharpener that I got cheap that had a 'few rust patches'. I experimented with Hammerite but there was no real colour match. Also, unless you spend a lot of time preparing and making sure the surface is flat and not pitted it looks like it's been hand painted!

I have ordered some blades from Ian at Tuffsaws - first thing I did as I found that they made a big difference on my smaller bandsaw.

Thanks for the manual. I've been using the machine for more than 30 years but have never seen the instructions until now!
Paint issue - why not just paint it another colour, pink, or anything. Stripes? Polka dots? Mine is finished "shabby chic" effect at the moment, part paint, part rust.
