Bought this fully refurbed a few years back.
It does a fair bit of work in timber, very little with metal.

Been getting a little louder for a while but kinda got used to it.
Issue really got noticeable when I upped the speed.
Before I go further, yes the quill appears good with no sideways movement.
With the quill fully up, it's noisy.
With it down it's much quieter.
Top end bearing maybe?
If so, what else to inspect, plan to replace at the same time?

Lubrication - any preferences / recommendations?
Maybe this is all my fault as I'd packed the quill carrier with grease when maybe it should have been oil?

Does it quieten down with a load eg light grip on the chuck body? If so suspect wear in the splined drive inside the quill.

Not a great deal you can do about that.

Well pressing on with it to see if I can track it down.
All components look pretty good and have a new bearing for the top of the spindle. Got the grub screw out of the locking collar so hope it will come free tomorrow.

Almost got it stripped but finding the pulley a bit of a pillock to release (yes 2 grub screws removed) as I discovered there's another bearing under there which I'd like to get to.
Any tips on easing off the pulley?

I tried getting the pulley off recently.
There are 2 grub screws in each side and mine had seized. I gave up in the end.
Did you check a loose body panel for the rattle?
