hi all, I am new to the forum and was wondering if i could get some experienced help. I am a fully blind person who is looking into getting a lathe. My problem is that i don't have a work shop to do my work in. I have a shed to store tools, but not a area to work in. I have been working in the garden under cover when its raining. I am a experience wood carver/whittler, My father is a joiner and I have been brought up with tools all my life. I've never stopped trying to do stuff with wood even though i'm blind. I would really love to start on doing stuff with lathe as i know quite a few blind people who have. So what i'm asking is, is there a lathe that is some what portable. I don't mean to take it on the train or any thing, but some thing i could move out into the garden then store away when i'm done. I would like to do a variety of jobs but if a portable lathe is only going to do small jobs I'm still interested. Could some one please help me out. Thank you all in dvance.

Hi
It seems a lot of the show demonstrators have small JET lathes, which are probably as portable as you need without getting too lightweight. as to which model i guess is down to budget. Axminster have a good range listed on their website.
