Every now and then I see one of these on Ebay. Are they worth buying? Pro's and con's?

Save your money and buy a #3 or a #4 smoother. The SB4 is truly awful - no adjustable frog, crabby blade adjuster, nasty shiny plastic handles, poorly machined, and worst of all it's not even heavy enough to be a boat anchor :lol: Last year I gave one of my DIY neighbours an old Record #04 I had to reduce the flow of bad language eminating from their household most weekends
#-o - some of which was down to the SB4. The #04 had been dropped, broken, welded and ground and it was still a mile better - and the blade held an edge, too.
