After reading the blood and gore pages,
the writer mentions that the series 2 bailey planes are the best that stanley have produced,
what is it about these series 2 planes that is so special compared to the rest?
also, how do I go about knowing whether i have a series 2 in myhands or not?

Cheers, Matt

Type 2's? Not often seen for sale I don't think. A confession; I've never actually read the blurb about the Bedrocks before , so the preference for Type 2's came as a surprise. Previously I thought the preferred user was the Type 11; having all the features, but at about the best time for quality. Quality of manufacture seems to be the biggest issue, and generally older is better seems to be the rule of thumb. Putting aside the fluid nature of typing, you might find this page useful. No relevance to Made in England Stanleys of course.

Cheers, Alf
