Old squeezy bottles are handy but the valves in the top can be annoying (nothing, nothing, SPLOOSH!). You can just tear the little silicone valve bit but I discovered that if you pop out the plastic ring that holds it in the top you can then use that ring to secure a piece of mesh, making a built in sieve or filter.
If you want to be able to snap the lid shut you need to leave some slack in the piece of mesh (shut the top, place mesh over opening and then push retaining ring down to snap into place- mesh will then fit itself over the protruding bit in cap, allowing cap to close).
