Hi guys

I been doing up and painting old furniture lately and trying to get some advice on spraying them white using a compressor spray gun.

got no idea about it all yet though... is there anyone who might know abit about this?

trying to find out about which compressor kit to buy and how big a compressor I would need. where to buy white paints for this and what's the best paints stuff like that.

was thinking water based as its easy to clean

I am no paint spraying expert, but I have a Wagner, (HVLP) high volume low pressure sprayer, the compressor/blower is all built into the gun, so no other compressor required.

I have only sprayed decking, fence and summer house with preserver, but it was very easy to use.

I know it will spray emulsion paints, so I guess a water base gloss paint would spray OK, but as said I am no expert.

Chris.

Thanks for that Chris thats very helpfull as I really never wanted a compressor sprayer as I dont have alot of room and wont be using it loads. can i ask do you have to water down emulsion to spray it? are they easy to clean?

thanks again :)

I guess it would depend on the make and viscosity of the emulsion paint, but you are provided with a viscosity cup to check if watering down is necessary. As I have only used wood preserver which has the viscosity of water I can’t really give any constructive advice.

Cleaning with water based products is very easy, just swill around parts in a bucket of clean water, job done, oil based is a little more involved, just using white spirit first, then warm soapy water to finish off.

I obtained my Wagner, from the Ideal World TV shopping channel. If you go to their web site, there is some video demonstrations on using the Wagner, and how to clean.

Hope this is of help.

Chris.

PS. If I can use the Wagner, anyone can, as me and painting are not the best of buddies. (hammer)
